There are quite a few route options to chose from for driving from Bangalore to Goa. The road distance from Bangalore to Goa is about 560km, though it can can extend up to 600km+ depends on your destination in Goa and the route you pick to drive. A few popular options and considerations are listed below.

Option 1 : Goa to Bangalore via Mangalore
Option 2 : Goa to Bangalore via Shimoga
Option 3 : Goa to Bangalore via Hubli.
Option 4 : Goa to Bangalore via Hospet.

For each of these driving options there are further detours and diversions possible.

So the first task for you is to decide your larger route plan, considering a host of factors , including your itinerary en-route to Goa.

If your destination is in Goa, Option 3 is the most popular choice, thanks to the road condition.This is also a good choice, if you are planing to cover the whole distance in one straight drive.

Option 2 is desirable, only if you are planing to cover places like Jog Falls.

Similarly Option 1 is for those who wants to cover a host of popular beaches and other attractions on the north Karnataka Konkan coast (Gokarna, Karwar) and along the Western Ghats.

Route option 4 is for those wants to make an extended Goa itinerary, including Hampi,  Badami , Pattadakal, Aihole too.

Back to Option 3 (via Hubli), you can split this route further into three.

If your final destination is in north Goa, head further towards Belgaum on NH4 and exit for the Jamboti Route. Great drive through the western ghats forest before you hit northern Goa destinations.

Take diversion at Darwad for Alnavar, you'll head straight through the Western Ghats forest. At Ponda, take further diversions for your destination in Goa.

Opt for the Karwar route, if you are heading to South Goa destinations. This is probably the best route out of the three diversions to Goa from NH4 from a driving point of view.

Of course there is one more diversion from Hubli via Dandeli. This diversion is greatly through ghat/forest roads. Select this only if you are keen on nature, wants to try something challenging!
