Trains runs from north to south of Kerala pass through the same single route connecting most of Kerala's larger cities and towns.

There are a few exceptions though, where there is a parallel train route in south Kerala. Most trains go via Kottayam route , some go via Alleppey.

Daily Trains between Goa and Kerala :  There are two daily express trains connecting Goa with Kerala. The first one is the Mangala Lakshadweep Express (Train No: 12618 ) from H Nizamuddin (NZM) near New Delhi to Ernakulam Jn (ERS).

Mangala Lakshadweep Express heads towards Kalyan near Mumbai and travels to Kerala via Goa.

If you are heading further south of Kerala like Alleppey (ALLP), Kollam (QLN), Varkala (VAK), Trivandrum(TVC) etc, opt for Netravati Express (Train No 16345)  the second daily train between Goa and Kerala. Netravati Express connects Mumbai with Trivandrum via Goa.

Otherwise you'll find 6 to 8 daily train from Goa to Kerala depending on the day of travel.

If you are not very particular, try book by Netravati or Mangala or any of the Mumbai / Goa origin trains.

Of course if you are looking for a luxury train prefer the Trivandrum Rajadhani Express (Train No:12432), Kerala Sampark Krani Express (Train No:12218)  There are also a couple of premium express trains too to prefer.

Except the Rajdhani Express, all other trains have Second Sleeper (SL) coaches. This is the cheapest sleeper reservation option.

Otherwise most of the trains have 2AC and 3AC sleeper coaches. A couple of them have even the 1AC coaches.

A non-AC second sleeper ticket (SL) between Goa and Ernakulam would cost about Rs450 (about USD 7). For 3AC about Rs 1165 (about USD 18 ) , 2AC about Rs1665 (about USD 26 )  and 1AC about Rs2825 (about USD 45 ).

Tatkal reservation (the last day special reservation quota ) tickets cost about 10 to 30% more depending on the class of travel.
