The first Mandovi Express (Train No: 10103) operates daily from Mumbai to Goa while the second train ( Train no: 10104 ) operates from Goa to Mumbai.
Train No10103 leaves Mumbai CST (Station Code: CSTM) station in the morning at 7.10 and reaches Madgaon (Station Code:MAO) of Goa in the night by 8.10, taking about 13 hours to cover the 765km (475miles) journey.
Same way, the return Mandovi Express leaves Madgaon 8.30am and reaches Mumbai CST by 9.40pm.

On the Mumbai side, Mandovi Express has stops at Dadar (Station Code:DR), Thane (Station Code:TNA) and Panvel (Station Code:PNVL).
Mandovi Express has stops at a few north Goa stations. If you are heading to one of those places (like Arambol , Anjuna, Vagator etc), consider one of those north Goa stations rather than Madgaon. You'll save a good deal of time traveling back from Madgaon.

Pernem (Station Code:PERN) station is close to places like Arambol Beach. Pernem is about 17km west of the beach side.
Tivim Railway Station (Code:THVM) is in the Bardez region. Tivim railway station is about 9km west of Mapusa town. By the way the entire beach line of Vagator to Anjuna to Baga to Calangute to Candolim , are easily accessible from Tivim.
Further south, Mandovi Express stops at Karmali Railway Station (Code : KRMI), which is in the Old Goa area and also closer to Panjim . It's about 13km from Karmali Station to Panjim city center. The Old Goa town is about 2km north of Karmali Station.
Opt for the last station , Madgaon (MAO), if your destination in Goa is anywhere south of Vasco.
About the class of Mandovi Express, you've the choices of First class Air-Conditioned (Code:1A), AC 2-tier sleeper (Code:2A), AC 3 Tier (Code:3A), Sleeper Class (Code:SL) , Second Sitting (Code:2S) and of course the Unreserved Coaches. For every class other than the unreserved class you'll need an advanced reservation.
1A,2A,3A are air-conditioned coaches, the rest are not. In AC coaches the bed rolls are also supplied, in other sleep class bring your own. There is also a catering van attached to Mandovi Express.

The main limitation for Mandovi Express is , it is a day train, making you lose 2 days in the up and down travel ( and an extra nights hotel cost too!) . There are over 2 dozen other trains from Mumbai to Goa. Some are daily trains. Konkan Kanya Express and the Mangalore Express are overnight trains to Goa.
There are many more trains options to Goa from Mumbai. The Goa Jan Shadabdi Express is another day train from Mumbai to Goa.
