How to book Mumbai Goa Train Ticket Online:
Log on to the official irctc.co.in website for online booking. Ofcourse there are also private website like cleartrip.com that offeres train ticket booking.
You'll need a (free) registration to book tickets online. The reservation details are send to mobile as SMS or email. Which is good enough to show as ticket during the travel.
If you are booking from abroad , it is a bit complicated , though very much doable. Do some internet research on how to book Indian trains from aboard. The main hiccup is IRCTC asks for local mobile number while registering, to send the password, which you may not have... Check out, you can contact IRCTC offline (through email) to get pass this stage.....
Before you are tempted to book those overpriced Premium Tatkal (last minute premium tickets), check out airline tickets too. You may be surprised to find the prices are comparable!
You may also check out the bus option, if train tickets are hard to come by, though train journey to Goa is prefered over bus.
The Mumbai Goa stretch of rail route falls in the Konkan Railway line. The route negotiates through the slops of the mountainous Western Ghats.
